Roy Chehwane after visiting the President of the Republic: It gave me greater hope that Lebanon will emerge from all its crises

Info plus correspondent, colleague Mirvat El Khoury, met with Mr. Roy Georges Chehwane, member of the Lebanese-Cypriot Business Council and Executive Director of Plus Holding Group, after his meeting today at Baabda Palace with the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, along with the members of the Council and its new President, Mr. David Issa.

On his impression after the visit, Chehwane said: “The visit gave me greater hope that Lebanon will emerge from all its crises, and that the Lebanese-Cypriot relationship is solid and set for further strengthening and development.”

In response to a question, Roy Chehwane said: “President Aoun’s speech today in front of the president and members of the Council increased our hope and optimism that investments will return to Lebanon as soon as the war stops, and that the Lebanese-Cypriot relationship is very good at the political level between the two countries and that this will quickly reflect on economic relations as well, once the Lebanese scene witnesses security and political stability, thanks to the successes of Lebanese businessmen in Cyprus in various sectors on the island and the relationships they have built over the years with prominent Cypriot companies and economic figures.”

In response to a question about the return of Plus Properties activities, which started in Lebanon and spread to Europe, the Gulf and Africa, and is now returning to Lebanon, Chahwan said: “Although we are Lebanese-Cypriots, Lebanon remains our first country, and with the election of President Joseph Aoun, we have returned to strengthen our presence in Lebanon, and we have great hope that this term will succeed in ensuring stability in Lebanon, which is the main title for every local and foreign investment.”

In response to a question about his presence in the Lebanese-Cypriot Business Council, which was founded by his father, the founding president of the Council, businessman Georges Chehwane, he said: “My father is the founder and the permanent sponsor and supporter of every activity that enhances the partnership between Lebanon and Cyprus. But Georges Chehwane loves, as always, to give opportunities to the new generation, whether in the companies he founded or in every activity he was behind. We always wish success in everything that seeks to develop and improve Lebanese-Cypriot relations.”

He concluded his remarks by expressing his thanks and appreciation to Cyprus, the neighboring and friendly state, which opened its doors to the Lebanese, whether they were investors or Lebanese seeking peace, stability and security.
